Judith Francisca Baquedano Osorio

Judith is a 26-year-old El Sauce native who, after finishing her high school education, continued her studies in Business Administration at the University of Managua in León. When she finished her education she began an internship position at the accounting office of CETA (a technical school in El Sauce).

After completing the internship, Judith was asked to work at CETA from time to time, but it was not a stable position. Because she wanted a more steady income, Judith decided to start her own business selling Avon cosmetics and kitchenware. In doing this, she is able to earn 25% of every product she sells.

Judith works hard traveling around El Sauce to visit her clients with the Avon and kitchenware catalogs. Since starting her business this past November, Judith has already placed 12 orders for products from Avon. Since many people sell Avon products in El Sauce, Judith has a lot of competition, but she has managed to successfully establish a relationship with a few regular clients.

Sometimes, Judith’s clients will place large orders of up to C$1,000, and will ask to pay it over a one-month period. However, since Avon only gives their representatives 15 days to pay for their orders, Judith had difficulty making up the difference. For this reason, Judith decided to apply for a loan from Enlace of U$200.

Her first loan enabled her to place larger orders for her clients, so Judith decided to apply for a second loan, which she is currently paying back. With this extra capital, she was able to purchase perfumes for men and women, cosmetics, and some kitchenware to keep in stock in her home.
